LEICESTER

Son of Frankel WESTERLAND made a nice start to his career when second at Newbury 11 days ago. He travelled like a classy horse and wasn’t helped by some trouble in running.
The soft ground wasn’t ideal there and this sounder surface should help. Any improvement should be good enough to win this.

PRINCE AHWAHNEE is bred for speed and trainer Clive Cox has his horses in good nick at present. There are plenty of winning sprinters in the family and he looks capable of joining them.
2.50
COOKIE’S STAR has been tried over various trips and it’s interesting to see her dropped in distance and class here. This looks a weak race even for this grade and her good draw should help too.
3.20 - Mullen's star bet
CASHLA BAY showed lots of promise in two maidens last season, starting with a second at Haydock before winning well at Newmarket.
That bodes well for this season and trainer John Gosden normally has them ready for their comeback. This trip and ground should suit too.
3.50
VERNATI looked a different horse when winning well at Yarmouth on her handicap debut last time out.
This trip suited ideally there and an 8lb rise in the weights looks fair given how easily she won.
4.20
JIVE LADY showed good speed on debut at Hamilton last time before her lack of a recent run really told in the closing stages.
She should have learned plenty from that experience and it would be no surprise to see her taking a big step forward today.

JOHN JOINER looked more than a little rusty when held at Nottingham on his comeback run last time out.
He had been off for six months so that was fair enough. He put in a number of strong efforts last term over this trip and any ground seems to suit.
5.20
VENTURA BLUES wasn’t beaten far on her comeback at Kempton last time which looked needed after 10 months off.
Her last run on turf saw her win over course and distance and she looks open to improvement with few miles on the clock.
