A HUNGRY horse went missing after its race on Monday… and turned up in the course canteen.

The famished filly finished fourth in handicap sprint at Redcar racecourse on Monday.

But it was after the winning line that the real action happened - as she managed to give her handler the slip and make a beeline for the snack bar.
And bemused jockeys couldn’t believe their eyes when they saw the cheeky nag join the lunch queue.
Rosamaria’s trainer Julie Camacho said: “It was after the race on the way back to the stable yard and the filly shied away from a camera and got loose, ending up in the canteen.
“I think [she] just trotted off and went through the back door.
“Then she took the next door and ended up right in the kitchen, behind the counter."
After a little exploring of her surroundings, Rosamaria, who has yet to win in 13 races, was then led away without even a doggy bag.
But not before Amie Waugh, daughter of trainer Simon, caught the whole incident on camera.
Speaking to Horse & Hound, she said: “It was a case of right place, right time.
“We had a runner in the last and had just nipped in for a quick drink. We could hear the clip-clopping, but it could have been one passing outside, then it got louder.
“She just stood there in the kitchen quite happily, then someone led her out - she wasn’t worried in the slightest.

“It was one of those things you couldn’t believe was actually happening.”
And Camacho later confirmed that Rosamaria had seen no ill effects from her unplanned escapade.
She added: “Luckily she's absolutely A1. It could have been bad but there was no harm done.
“Of all the things I've seen on a racecourse this is a new one – it was very bizarre!”
