Investec Oaks 2017 – Winter one of seven fillies for Aidan O’Brien still in contention for Epsom next month

Winter is one of seven fillies who could have a shot at Epsom glory for Aidan O'Brien while Daddys Lil Darling is an interesting contender from America

WINTER is still in contention to follow up her 1,000 Guineas win at Newmarket in the Investec Oaks at Epsom on June 2.

Aidan O'Brien's filly is one of seven remaining entries for the Ballydoyle maestro, with the likes of Guineas runner-up Rhododendron, Hydrangea, Alluringly and Rain Goddess also in contention.

O'Brien has won the race six times, including the last two renewals with Qualify (2015) and Minding (2016).

The Ballydoyle handler's son, Joseph, could saddle Intricately, who finished down the field in the 1,000 Guineas.

Kenny McPeek is set to represent America with Daddys Lil Darling, who will be ridden by Oliver Peslier.

The three-year-old daughter of Scat Daddy has shown a high level of form and was last seen finishing second in the Kentucky Oaks.

McPeek said: "We have some logistical details to finalise, but the plan is to fly out on Monday.

"I don't think the mile and a half at Epsom Downs is going to be a problem.

"I think it is more a question of whether she is going to be competitive against some of the European runners, particularly Aidan O'Brien's Galileo fillies.

"I am extremely excited by the challenge."

The John Gosden-trained trio of Enable, Coronet and Gracious Diana remain in contention, as does Charlie Appleby's Sobetsu, who is more likely to head to France for the Prix de Diane.

Other contenders in a list of 23 confirmations include Horseplay, Isabel De Urbina and Vintage Folly.
