Racing Tips – Templegate’s racing tips for all of ITV’s races on Saturday, April 1

Doncaster and Kempton both come under the spotlight as Templegate tries to find a host of winners on a busy Saturday

DONCASTER

1.50

Join the Mob in the Cammidge Trophy.

MOBSTA won this race 12 months ago and this year’s contest does not look as strong. He likes testing ground so the forecast rain is in his favour.

Birchwood was a Listed scorer at Chester last summer. But that was over seven furlongs and he has to prove he’s up to this task over today’s sprint distance.

Ride Like The Wind has claims on his French form. It’s harsh to judge him on his debut for Kevin Ryan on the all-weather at Lingfield and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him run well.

Nameitwhatyoulike should be involved if the pace holds up but Absolutely So would prefer faster ground.

Captain Colby landed the Portland at this track in September. He has the potential to develop into a decent sprinter.

2.25

Ccommit to a deadly Sin in the Spring Mile.

SINFONIETTA won first time out last season and went on to run some sound races. It’s not hard to expect him to have improved over the winter and any more rain would only help his chance.

Nimr has to be considered after rattling off three wins from four starts on the all-weather this winter. He has form at this track and he could easily be better than a handicapper.

Sacred Act hasn’t stood much racing. His Sandown success last September cam after 16 months off the track and it remains to be seen if he can develop into the useful performer he once promised to.

Gabrial’s Kaka and Raising Sand are other possibles.

GO Crazy in the Doncaster Mile.

CRAZY HORSE finished sixth in the French 2000 Guineas on his return to action last season. John Gosden’s ace wasn’t seen again until the autumn when he scored at Salisbury before twice finishing runner-up in France. The potential to be even better this season is there and he clearly goes well when fresh.

Stablemate Castle Harbour could also be useful. He’s only had five runs, this should be his trip this year and any rain would help his chance.

The form of Stormy Antarctic's Craven victory last spring did not work out well. He came up short in Group 1 races later in the year and has questions to answer.

3.35

Dive into DOLPHIN VISTA in the Betway Lincoln.

Trainer Richard Fahey has won the season’s traditional curtain raiser twice in the last five years and he has five runner this time. And I reckon Paul Hanagan’s mount is the one to be on.

He won three times last season and should do even better this year having been gelded over the winter.

Yuften has an obvious chance. The form of his Ascot success on Champions’ Day is strong and he flew home in a Listed contest at Wolverhampton on his return three weeks ago.

Donncha was beaten a neck in last year’s Spring Mile. He is generally consistent but finds it hard to win.

Bravery is interesting having switched from Aidan O’Brien to David O’Meara but Oh This Is Us needs faster ground.

Third Time Lucky – stablemate of Dolphin Vista – is proven in big-field handicaps and should go well.

KEMPTON

2.05

SPEAK up for LINGUISTIC in the Magnolia Stakes.

He had Derby aspirations after landing a valuable Newmarket sales race last spring. His short-head second to Viren’s Army in Chester’s Dee Stakes wasn’t good enough to get him a trip to Epsom but it was a decent effort in the context of today’s contest.

He hasn’t been seen since a below-par effort at Royal Ascot and has been gelded in that time off track. His pedigree suggests the switch to the all-weather should help and he could easily be better than this grade.

Absolute Blast made a promising debut for Archie Watson when a close third to Convey in the Winter Derby. A repeat of that effort should see him involved.

Fire Fighting is consistent but he is vulnerable to this level.

2.40

GO Dutch.

Gary Moore’s DUTCH GOLDEN AGE has a superb track record of four wins from six visits. He’s been given a nice break since scoring over course and distance in February and he still has more improvement in him.

Dougan is a reliable sprinter on the all-weather but he’s always going to be vulnerable to anything near well handicapped.

Hakam is the one I feat most. He’s only had five starts for Mick Appleby and won his latest start over seven furlongs at Chelmsford in January. The drop in distance is no worry and he often appreciates a bit of time between his races.

Top weight Justice Good also has claims. His only all-weather success came over course and distance.

3.15

DREAMS should stay with BIG COUNTRY backers in the Rosebery.

He bolted up on his debut for Mick Appleby at Wolverhampton in February. His Irish maiden form was promising enough and he looks to have started life in handicaps with a really good weight.

He’s gone up 9lb for his win but I would be surprised if that was enough to stop him.

Dutch Uncle was runner-up in this race 12 months ago. He’s not particularly well weight and a wide draw is going to make life tricky.

William Hunter is the interesting one. He had a great time of it last season and was a little unlucky when fourth in the November Handicap. If he takes to the all-weather he would have to have a chance.

Wild Hacked is already proven on sand and he won first time out last season. He looks to have plenty going for him.
