Matt Chapman’s racing tips for ITV’s racing from Kelso and Newbury on Saturday, March 25
Get all the info to bash the bookies as ITV's Matt Chapman runs you through the cards on a busy Saturday
IT is slightly the lull before another storm after Cheltenham and before Aintree and the Flat season gets into full swng.
However, there are still winners to be had on ITV each Saturday as this blog proved last weekend with a tasty treble.
Let's go to Newbury first Saturday, and the 1.50pm is a handicap chase over about 3m2f. Plodding is going to be key, and I like the look of an eachway bet on CLOUDY TOO, who is down to a mark now that he should be able to operate from.
Of course at the age of 11 he's not getting any better for Sue Smith, but this is winnable so I'm hoping for a return to form.
The 2.25pm at Newbury is a handicap chase over nearly 2m4f and boy does it look tough. I'm going to have a few quid each-way on ERICHT, who was right back to form at Doncaster last time but just failed to see out the 3m trip. Nicky Henderson drops his old boy in trip here and that could be the key for another success.
Next up is a Grade 2 novices' hurdle over an extended 2m4f at 3.00pm. This trip should be perfect for LAMANVER ODYSSEY, who just got pipped over a bit further last time.

Trained by Harry Fry, the selection has a nice racing weight in this limited handicap and again will be hard to keep out the frame.
Finally at Newbury on ITV there is a juvenile handicap hurdle at 3.35pm over nearly 2m3f. I'm going each-way again on DINSDALE, who might just be improving at the right time for Michael Scudamore. The selection won nicely on his latest start and some of the others are not getting better.
Matt Chapman's TV Tips
- 1.50 Newbury - Cloudy Too
- 2.05 Kelso - Runswick Royal
- 2.25 Newbury - Ericht
- 2.40 Kelso - Bryden Boy
- 3.00 Newbury - Lamanver Odyssey
- 3.15 Kelso - Silver Tassie
- 3.35 Newbury - Dinsdale
There's no doubt the Newbury TV races are tough, so let's also turn to Kelso which is also on ITV Saturday.
The 2.05pm is an extended 2m handicap hurdle, and it's hard to know what to make of topweight Cup Final who could easily win but also easily finish last!
I'm on RUNSWICK ROYAL, who appeared to really benefit last time from going back over the smaller obstacles having been chasing before that.

A mark of 135 is very fair and still lower than he's been in recent times.
The 2.40pm is a handicap hurdle over an extended 3m1f. What a slog this will be in heavy ground, and the one to be with here is BRYDEN BOY, who will be held up off what might well be a reasonable pace in the conditions. The selection loves the mud.
Finally at Bangor at 3.15pm there is a handicap chase over an extended 3m2f. This is tricky again, but I'm hoping SILVER TASSIE can build on a good win last time and score for Micky Hammond. Certainly the ground is ideal.
So best of luck. One of the trickiest Saturday's of the year to sort a winner or two. But let's hope for a Yeeehaaa. You Betcha!
