MINELLA AWARDS should pick up this prize.
He’s clearly had problems but has shown smart novice form. His close second to Champers On Ice on his debut when trained by Nicky Henderson makes him really well weighted. There was nothing wrong with his first start for Harry Fry when second at Plumpton in January and he’s had a nice break since.
Full Irish is progressive. He chased home smart prospect The Worlds End at Chepstow before making all the running to score at Leicester. I’m expecting him to go close.
Gaitway saw off Touch Kick at Musselburgh last month. He’s clearly got a bright future but might not want the ground as soft as it is today.
Another Venture and Tintern Theatre are others in with a shout.

IT’S time to Hedge our bets.
WILLOUGHBY HEDGE burst back into form when scoring over today’s course and distance when wearing a visor for the first time. If the headgear works as well again he will be the one to beat.
Pete The Feat is also a winner at Sandown this season. He landed the final of the veterans’ chase series in January. But he shot up in the weights and was miles behind Willoughby Hedge last time.
Upswing looked to have lost the plot before a better effort at Kempton last time. I’m not convinced he will build on that effort.
Shanroe Santos overcame mistakes to score at Warwick last month. He won’t get away with those jumping errors in this better race.

KAYF BLANCO looks a safe bet in the Imperial Cup.
His course-and-distance third to Champion Hurdle hope Brain Power was a cracking effort and it wasn’t a flash in the pan. He finished a good fifth behind Ballyandy in the Betfair Hurdle especially as he pulled hard in the early stages.
In-form trainer Graeme McPherson has put a hood on him for the first time today. That should help him settle.
Gassin Golf was third in this race two years ago. He missed most of last season but has come back in form and he’s slipped to a nice weight.
William H Bonney and Bigmarte are two young hurdlers with decent claims but I’m not willing to chance Fixe Le Kap on his first start since finishing in midfield in the Fred Winter at last year’s Cheltenham Festival.

THE Cap fits in this mares’ bumper.
CAP SOLEIL won without breaking sweat on her debut at Newbury in December and she followed up by beating smart prospect Daphne Du Clos in a Listed contest at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day.
I’ve no doubt she is very good and I’m expecting her to land a hat-trick of wins.
Redhotfillypeppers – who cost £200,000 – looked good on her bumper debut at Punchestown. Her trainer Willie Mullins won this race with Babylone Des Motte two years ago and he’s got another decent chance today.
Petticoat Tails has done nothing wrong in winning a brace of bumpers. She will need further when sent hurdling and that stamina could come in handy today.

WOLVERHAMPTON TIPS

THERE’S nothing dim about NIMR in the Lincoln Trial.
He’s bred to do well on the all-weather and he’s certainly lived up to his pedigree. His only defeat came when he pulled too hard off a slow pace at Newcastle in January.
His win over seven furlongs last month was his second from two visits to this track and he’ll have no problem with today’s longer distance.
Examiner has twice run well at this course this winter but he’s probably better over a bit further.
Supersta has done plenty of winning on the sand but he doesn’t appear to be firing on all cylinders at present.
Holiday Magic should be involved in the finish but Pactolus might find this distance a little on the sharp side.
3.15
YUFTEN is the lad for the Lady Wulfruna Stakes.
He landed a hot handicap at Ascot on Champions’ Day on only his second start for Roger Charlton. His all-weather form is good with a win and a head-second from two starts at Dundalk. He’s also been gelded over the winter and has a decent record when fresh.
Keystroke is the obvious danger. He bolted up a Kempton last time and he’s been successful on bot previous visits to this track.
My Target is in in the form of his life. His four-timer has come at Lingfield over a mile. He has won at this track in the past but there’s no doubt he is at his absolute best in Surrey.
