Matt Chapman’s racing tips for ITV’s racing from Sandown Park and Wolverhampton on Saturday, March 11
Get all the info to bash the bookies as ITV's Matt Chapman runs you through the cards on a busy Saturday
CHELTENHAM is just three days away, so the racing this weekend is very much the calm before the storm.
That said, the ITV cameras are out in force once again and there are winners to be had.
Let's start at Sandown with the 1.50pm, and there's a Grade 3 novices' handicap hurdle final over nearly 2m4f.
Pray all 16 run so we get each-way betting 1-2-3-4, and the one I want to be with is Kim Bailey's improving ANOTHER VENTURE, who scored at this track last time. He'll love some dig in the ground, and will stay strong.
The 2.25pm at Sandown is a handicap chase over 3m, and it's going to take a bit of getting. I like UPSWING, who finally returned to a bit of form at Kempton last time. This is winnable off a mark of 130 and Jonjo O'Neill is a master bringing back a horse like this.
Matt Chapman's TV Tips
- Sandown 1.50: Another Venture
- Wolverhampton 2.05: Examiner
- Sandown 2.25: Upswing
- Sandown 3.00: Not Another Muddle
- Wolverhampton 3.15: Realize
- Sandown 3.35: Cap Soleil
The big betting race at Sandown is the Imperial Cup at 3.00pm over nearly 2m. A smaller field than is often the case, and I like NOT ANOTHER MUDDLE, who travelled like a star at Fontwell last time but simply didn't get home.
He's over a shorter trip here, but more importantly needs to be buried out the back and brought through the pack late. He can pull hard, but has ability.
Finally at Sandown check out the Listed Mares' bumper at 3.35pm. I'll have a few quid on CAP SOLEIL, who has won twice at Newbury and Cheltenham and might easily be up for landing the hat-trick. She looks very useful for Fergal O'Brien.

Despite being Cheltenham next week the Flat season is not far away, and Wolverhampton hosts some decent events Saturday.
It's the brilliantly sponsored Sunbets.co.uk Lincoln Trial at 2.05pm, and I want to have a few quid each-way on EXAMINER, who is well drawn for Stuart Williams and can travel nicely just behind what should be a decent pace.
The 3.15pm at Wolverhampton is also sponsored by Sunbets, and is a Listed event over 7f.
I'll chuck a few quid at another Williams runner here in REALIZE, who is also well drawn and decent odds. He's got every chance on official ratings and should be bang there.
Yeeehaaa!
