Cheltenham Festival – Might Bite back on track with Doncaster win and 4-1 for the RSA Chase at Cheltenham

Might Bite wins at Doncaster

MIGHT BITE bounced back to form with an easy win at Doncaster following his heavy fall at Kempton on Boxing Day.

Nicky Henderson's eight-year-old jumped well as he put his crashing final-fence tumble in the Grade One Kauto Star Novices' Chase behind him.

Might Bite was sent off the 1-7 favourite to see off his two rivals at Doncaster and he did so in a canter.

Nico de Boinville decided to dictate affairs from the second fence and left his two challengers falling further behind as the race went on.

Ma Du Fou tried to keep tabs on Might Bite, but was fighting a losing battle when coming down at the final open ditch.

That left Might Bite to stroll home from Gorran Haven, the winning margin being 99-plus lengths.

He was left unchanged for the RSA Chase at Cheltenham on March 15.

De Boinville said: "I enjoyed that, it was lovely and we just need him to get his confidence back. I think he is the sort of horse who will be better in a better race. You can be more aggressive on him and his jumping comes to hand the stronger he goes.

"He's got an awful lot of potential and is going the right way. We just need to keep his jumping low and flat."

Henderson, who was not at Doncaster, said: "That was just what we wanted to see him do. It didn't look as if the fall has had a lasting effect, anyway.

"Without talking to Nico I can't give a detailed description, but his jumping looked good.

"We've not really learned anything about him, but it was good for his confidence."
