Grendisar nears return
Marco Botti's six-year-old saves his best for Lingfield and Botti is preparing him for the Churchill Stakes in November
GRENDISAR is on course to kick off his all-weather campaign in the Churchill Stakes at his happy-hunting ground of Lingfield on November 12.
The 10-furlong Listed contest is a fast-track qualifier for All-Weather Championships on Good Friday.
The Marco Botti-trained six-year-old will bid to go one better than 12 months ago when he was a fast-finishing second to Let's Go.
All roads will then lead to the championships which saw Grendisar successful in the mile-and-a-quarter division last season.
The six-year-old has had a break since then and is satisfying his trainer as he prepares to make his comeback.
"He's doing well and I'm very pleased with him," said Botti.
"There are no races for him until November 12, the Listed race at Lingfield, and that's where he will go.
"He had a good break but he just took a little bit longer to come to hand and, for that reason, we decided not to go to Ireland and wait to campaign him in England.
"We have another three or four weeks before the race, but it's so far, so good.
"It's a fast-track qualifier and he loves the track, so it makes sense to go there."
