Matt Chapman horse racing tips: Alpinista the star but I’ve found TWO big 12-1 chances for York Ebor Festival
SHE’S a monster abroad, but Thursday at York is the time for Alpinista to show us what she can do at home!
The multiple Group 1 heroine is the main act in the Yorkshire Oaks for fillies and mares over a mile and a half live on ITV.
It’s not the first time trainer Sir Mark Prescott has had a good one who seems better when they travel.
Remember Wizard King?
Now, don’t get me wrong, he won some good races in the UK including at Ascot, but it was when he went to Ireland that he seemed to grow another couple of legs.
ALPINISTA has met some of the best in Germany and France, but was thrashed by Love in this race in 2020 and missed last year’s renewal.
This is her time to smack it to us under Luke Morris and show why she’s a leading Arc de Triomphe contender.
I’d rather Oaks heroine Tuesday - who did this column a right favour at Epsom - was over a mile and a quarter, so I fully expect Alpinista to score for major owner-breeder Kirsten Rausing.

It's also worth remembering earlier this year Rausing gave £400,000 for a state-of-the-art CT scanner at Addenbrooke’s Hospital. A good egg.
ITV's Thursday coverage gets underway with the Group 2 Lowther for juvenile fillies over six furlongs.
The Queen Mary form is hardly bombproof but that said the Karl Burke team have always considered DRAMATISED special and I suspect she will show she’s a cut above this lot for Danny Tudhope.
While the Royal Ascot win might not have a lot of substance the daughter of Showcasing scored in some style. This trip is more suitable.
There’s a big pot up for grabs in the sales race for two-year-olds over six furlongs.
I’ll risk REDEMPTION TIME each way here for Clive Cox and Adam Kirby.
The colt showed blinding speed to lead in his early days but then missed the break and got hampered when trying to recover in the Norfolk at Royal Ascot.
Clearly he’s better than that run suggests and I presume has been laid out for this big prize.
Before the Oaks there is a heritage handicap over one mile.
A lot of these are right at the hilt of their handicap marks.
That includes CRUYFF TURN who was a good winner at this track in May.
He disappointed at Royal Ascot but was back to form last time when running on well in the Bunbury Cup.
A mark of 100 might not be impossible so I’ll put him up eachway in a very tricky race!
Finally on telly is the Listed Galtres Stakes for fillies and mares over one mile and four furlongs.

Lots of possible improvers in here but none more so than GOLDEN LYRA representing the powerful William Haggas and Tom Marquand combination.
The daughter of Lope de Vega has done little wrong in three starts and appears a promising type. Stays well. Good luck!
