ALFRED BOUCHER (4.10 York, nap)

He has relished moving up to staying trips since joining Ian Williams. He has been second on both starts for the yard at Chester where he has been a bit unlucky each time.

The booking of William Buick takes the eye and he won’t lack for stamina.

SECRET STATE (3.00 York, nb)

He can be the latest Charlie Appleby runner to move from top handicapper to Group performer. He made it four wins on the spin in good style at Goodwood when relishing this distance.

That built on his Royal Ascot victory and there’s a lot more to come.

ROGUE SPIRIT (5.20 York, treble)

He is consistent and followed a good third in the Newbury Super Sprint with a close-up effort at Chester last time.

He starts off handicapping from a fair mark and can improve again.

Templegate’s complete race-by-race guide

1.50

GHATHANFAR goes well here and was just collared over 6f last time. He scored the last time he tackled this trip on the Knavesmire and can go close again.

Dakota Gold won this in 2019 and is having a good season. He beat Makanah here in May and the latter will hope to make the most of what could be a good draw in stall one.

Atalis Bay was unlucky at Goodwood last time and didn’t have much luck in Listed company here last month. He’s handicapped to go close.

Zarzyni ran a cracker from a moderate draw at Ascot last time and likes this trip.

He’s a threat with course specialist Copper Knight who won this last year from a 9lb lower mark.

2.25

LOCAL DYNASTY created a good impression when winning easily on debut at Newmarket last time. He picked up sharply and should have a lot more to offer.

Indestructible may not have had much to beat at Windsor last month but he swatted them away in style. This is tougher but the extra furlong should help him find more.

Shaquille is proven at the track from an easy debut success. He saw out this trip strongly and can take a step forward.

Chaldean enjoyed moving up to this distance when scoring at Newbury. The form of that race looks solid and it would be no surprise to see him pull out more again.

Mill Stream scored on debut and improved when second at Newmarket. He should relish this longer trip.

3.00

SECRET STATE can be the latest Charlie Appleby runner to move from top handicapper to Group performer.

He made it four wins on the spin in good style at Goodwood when relishing this distance. That built on his Royal Ascot victory and there’s a lot more to come.

Deauville Legend went well in the Gordon Stakes and was a neck behind the tip when they clashed in June. He looks the main threat again although he already shapes as more of a stayer.

Aikhal is a serious contender after improving to win a Curragh Group 3 over 1m2f.

He wasn’t stopping at the line so should get the longer trip.

Appleby also runs Walk Of Stars who went close at Newmarket behind Deauville Legend but he’s another who would prefer further.

3.35

BAAEED has been nothing short of awesome over a mile despite his breeding suggesting that this trip will be his optimum.

His sire Sea The Stars won a Derby and Arc and the way he travels suggests this trip could bring out even more improvement, if that’s possible.

He landed his fifth mile Group 1 in a row at Goodwood and this could easily be another procession.

Mishriff won this last year by six lengths and is clearly best at this trip.

His liking for the track is a plus but Native Trail could be a better bet for the forecast spot.

He was just behind Mishriff at Sandown but that was his first crack at this trip after winning the Irish 2,000 Guineas and he was racing a long way from home in the Eclipse and only just failed.

There’s every chance he can turn that form around getting 7lb.

4.10

ALFRED BOUCHER has relished moving up to staying trips since joining Ian Williams.

He has been second on both starts for the yard at Chester where he has been a bit unlucky each time.

The booking of William Buick takes the eye and he won’t lack for stamina.

Soapy Stevens got the better of him when they clashed on the Roodee but he very much got first run.

He has since scored at Newmarket and run well at Goodwood and is a big danger again.

Master Milliner battled well to score over 2m4f last time but isn’t short of pace and has run well here before.

Haveyoumissedme has been flying on the all-weather at Newcastle and would be dangerous if repeating that form on turf. Old boy Withhold likes York and is a big price.

4.45

PINK CRYSTAL has her sights raised after winning at Brighton but she did it in style and a 3lb rise is fair for William Haggas’s filly.

International Girl showed a lot of pace when winning here in a big field and a drop in trip won’t be an issue. She’s up the weights but looks a threat.

Cuban Breeze powered along when winning at Windsor over 6f but has a couple of victories over this trip too.

Ryan Moore riding for David Evans catches the eye. Sandbeck is one of many dangers after a good Doncaster success along with Haydock third Fast Response.

5.20

ROGUE SPIRIT is consistent and followed a good third in the Newbury Super Sprint with a close-up effort at Chester last time.

He starts off handicapping from a fair mark and can improve again.

Mrs U S A won nicely at Sandown over 5f latest but gives the impression this trip will suit even better.

She’s another who could be ahead of the handicapper.

Streets Of Gold has won both starts nicely and is proven at this trip, which makes him a danger.

Silencer went close in a hot nursery at Goodwood over this distance and is right in the mix again.
