So easy for Mi Dar-ling
John Gosden's filly had been off the track since her impressive win in the Musidora Stakes but she put all that behind her to take the Listed contest at Yarmouth under Frankie Dettori
SO MI DAR made a triumphant return to action in the EBF Stallions John Musker Fillies' Stakes at Yarmouth.
The John Gosden-trained filly was defying a 126-day lay-off following her hugely impressive win in the Musidora at York as she extended her unbeaten run to four.
Forced to miss the Oaks through injury, she set herself up for some big targets later in the season with a stylish display.
Last year's Juddmonte International heroine Arabian Queen adopted her usual front-running role and champion jockey Silvestre de Sousa tried to steal the race turning into the straight and went two lengths clear.
Frankie Dettori always looked confident, though, and without asking for maximum effort, So Mi Dar (11-8) went to the front and just had to be kept up to her work to hold off Roger Varian's Nezwaah by half a length.
Dettori said: "She was not fully wound up today, but she's done everything smoothly and there's plenty more to come.
"I haven't ridden her since the Musidora but Gary Foster, who is in charge of her, thought he had her ready to run but not fully wound up to win a Group One."
Rachel Hood, Gosden's wife, said: "That's exactly what we hoped for and we're extremely pleased with that.
"John has been on the phone from Kentucky and he was pleased.
"She's enjoyed being at the races and Frankie did a perfect job and the owners are happy they've seen her do that.
"The thoughts are we wanted to get her back on track, she's done it well and will hopefully come on a lot for that."
Owner Lady Lloyd Webber added: "I think we have to look at Chantilly (Prix de l'Opera) and Champions Day.
"We love Yarmouth though and will celebrate Yarmouth today.
"Chantilly seems a long way off, but it will soon be here. It would be fairly bullish to go for the main event (Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe) and we'll probably stick against her own sex.
"Maybe next year we'll try to win the Arc."
