GROUND KEY

Doncaster or Curragh the options for Boynton

Godolphin's Superlative Stakes winner suffered his first defeat in the Vintage Stakes at Goodwood when finishing third and could attempt to get back on track in the National Stakes

GROUND conditions will dictate where Superlative Stakes winner Boynton is next seen on a racecourse.

The Goffs Vincent O'Brien National Stakes at the Curragh on September 11 had been the plan, but the Charlie Appleby-trained two-year-old may contest the At The Races Champagne Stakes at Doncaster 24 hours earlier if the ground is deemed more suitable.

The son of More Than Ready saw his colours lowered for the first time when he finished third in the Vintage Stakes at Glorious Goodwood last month.

Appleby said: "He's in the National Stakes and in the Champagne Stakes. We will keep an eye on how the ground is with him.

"Wherever the better surface is he will go. He is in good order and has done well since Goodwood, but he needs quick ground.

"He is a horse on an upward curve."

Plans are also in place for impressive Goodwood maiden winner Romantic View to return in the autumn.

The daughter of Shamardal has not been seen since she trailed home last in the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot in June.

Appleby said: "Romantic View has been on the easy list, but she has been back in the last few weeks.

"She is a filly with a three-year-old pedigree. She's a filly that has needed a bit of time but she has done well through having a break.

"There are lots of options in the autumn for her."
