Carol Vorderman looks incredible arriving at the races in a helicopter to watch contest named in her honour
CAROL VORDERMAN looked the pick of the parade ring as she got dressed up to watch a horse race named in her honour.
The former Countdown star arrived at Ffos Las in her native Wales by helicopter on Thursday to take in some of the action.
And she will have an eager eye on the aptly named 'Carol Vorderman Loves West Wales Nursery Handicap'.
The race went off at 2.10pm and was won by Welsh jockey David Probert - his seventh win from his past eight races.
SunSport's Matt Chapman grabbed a word with Vorders as she got ready to present the trophy and she said: "We've missed racing.
"This is the first time I have been back to the races really since Cheltenham last year and it's just the best feeling.
"I love the whole atmosphere. I'm not very good at it - I couldn't tell you the odds on this or the odds on that.
"But I could tell you the numbers!

"I enjoy the whole family of racing. I half-live not far from here and the manager said he'd name a race after me.
"I think the only thing I have won in racing is the race name with the longest title in history!
"It was so big it wouldn't fit on the board!"
Vorderman, 60, posted a photo of her outfit for the day and wrote alongside it: "Dressed for the races @FfosLasRC."
Announcing yesterday she had been honoured with a race, age-defying Carol said: "I've been given my very own race on Thursday….so excited.
"At @FfosLasRC near Carmarthen Flag of WalesRed heart. It's called Carol Vorderman Loves West Wales Nursery Handicap.
"Have I mentioned I'll be excited to be there?"
And speaking of the contest, Ffos Las general manager Simon Rowlands added: "Carol is a big supporter of Welsh horse racing and has shares in some racehorses.

Vorderman loves racing and owns one highly promising horse with Grand Tour and ex-Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond.
The TV duo invested in the Kim Bailey-trained Subway Surf, who has two wins in 11 races.
A seven-year-old mare, she finished last season with a three straight runner-up finishes, taking her career earnings to £14,451.
Vorderman has previously been pictured at Cheltenham Festival and Subway Surf has in the past run at Ascot.
