EASIER TASK

Appleby wants to give Emotionless his confidence back

Having been off injured for a while Emotionless came back with a disappointing fifth in the St James's Palace Stakes, but that was behind three Guineas winners and he may have found his task too tough

EMOTIONLESS is likely to drop in grade for his next start in an attempt to regain his winning thread.

Charlie Appleby has highlighted the Group Three Thoroughbred Stakes at Glorious Goodwood as his next target as he tries to restore some confidence back into the three-year-old.

Appleby said: "We felt he was not right for the Guineas and we were happy we didn't run there.

"Going into the St James's Palace Stakes, taking on three Guineas winners, we knew he was not going there to have an easy race.

"I was happy enough with him but William (Buick) was not happy with conditions being as soft as they were.
