Arnold Palmer memorial: Teary Ryder Cup stars Rickie Fowler, Phil Mickelson, Bubba Watson bring trophy as golf pays tribute to the King

The golfing world bid an emotional goodbye to the legend at his hometown of Pennsylvania, with his great rival Jack Nicklaus delivering his eulogy

ARNOLD PALMER'S emotional memorial service took place in his hometown of Pennsylvania today – and the Ryder Cup itself was brought along too.

Ryder Cup victors Rickie Fowler, Phil Mickelson and Bubba Watson brought along the Cup to the funeral, and were in tears as they took their special guest to the ceremony.

His private funeral for family members was last Thursday.

Palmer, the legendary golfer, businessman and entrepreneur, golf course designer, and philanthropist was remembered in a memorial service Tuesday morning at the Saint Vincent Basilica Parish at Saint Vincent College.

He died aged 87 last week.

He won more than 90 golf tournaments, including the Masters four times, the U.S. Open in 1960, and the British Open in 1961 and 1962.

A tearful Jack Nicklaus, his longtime friend and chief rival in the 1960s,  delivered Palmer's eulogy and said: "Remember how he touched your heart, and don’t forget why."
