Celebs gearing up for prestigious tournament at St Andrews as Ruud Gullit and Kevin Pietersen also get involved

JAMIE REDKNAPP led the way as a group of sporting personalities tried their hand in the practice round of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

The former Tottenham and Liverpool star took the course in all the right gear as he gave it some welly at the Old Course in St Andrews.

Sky Sports pundit Redknapp was joined by a number of other golf enthusiasts, including former Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack.

The German looked delighted as he got to grips with the course alongside ex-Blues boss Ruud Gullit.

While legendary jockey Tony McCoy appeared to be taking things very seriously as he struck a fierce shot.

Meanwhile, three cricket icons also joined in the fun alongside professional golfers – including six of Europe’s losing Ryder Cup team.

Kevin Pietersen, Michael Vaughn and Ian Botham all took turns ahead of the pro-am competition, with a host of other celebrities also involved.

Ronan Keating, Jamie Dornan, Hugh Grant and Andy Garcia are all looking to make things happen alongside the likes of Lee Westwood and Danny Willett, with all the action kicking off on Thursday October 6.
