Paul Broadhurst left ‘overwhelmed’ as he receives a letter from Arnold Palmer… five days after legend’s death
Former Ryder Cup man was sent a few words from American legend after winning a tournament in the United States

FORMER Ryder Cup golfer Paul Broadhurst has told of his surprise after receiving a letter from Arnold Palmer... Five days after he sadly passed away.
Broadhurst bagged his first win in America at Pebble Beach Golf Links two weeks ago.
It was his third win since becoming a senior golfer just last year.
On his return across the pond to his home in Fenny Drayton, Leicestershire, he found a letter addressed from Palmer - with Broadhurst assuming it was an invitation to his tournament in Florida.
Broadhurst said: “It was surreal really. Initially I thought it must be an invite to his event to his event in Florida.
“But then I started reading it and it was just to say well done for winning in America.
"It was overwhelming really. It was surreal as he had passed away by the time I was reading it."
The letter in full read: "Dear Paul: Congratulations on your victory Sunday in the First Tee tournament at Pebble Beach.

"You certainly didn't let that long wait you had at the last hole bother you.
"Solid birdie for the win. You are doing very well in senior golf, I must say.
"Sincerely, Arnold Palmer."
Palmer passed away on September 25, aged 87 - with the golfing world left to mourn one of the all-time greats.
Remembering the American star, Broadhurst revealed: “I never had the pleasure of meeting Arnold.
"So for him to take time out to write to me was really special. You could tell from what was in the letter he had watched me play as well.
“When you receive praise like that, well, it makes it all worthwhile. The letter is away getting framed.
"Arnold was a fans' favourite, he always had time for the fans, he is a true legend of the game."
