Tiger Woods is losing sleep over Ryder Cup and Jordan Spieth wants victory against Europe more than £7.5m FedEx Cup

US Open champ Dustin Johnson revealed crocked Woods is texting him all the time about next month's showdown

TIGER WOODS is so obsessed with winning the Ryder Cup that he is losing sleep over it.

And his American team-mate Jordan Spieth is so determined to beat Europe that he would take that over claiming the £7.5m FedEx Cup.

US captain Davis Love has labelled Woods the side's "tactician" and said he is already plotting pairings to take on Darren Clarke's men.

The 14-time Major winner is so desperate to end America's nightmare run that he's being kept up at night.

Skipper Love said: "He’s excited about it, he doesn’t sleep much, he puts a lot of thought into it.

"There’s a reason why he’s arguably one of the greatest players to ever play the game. He knows how to prepare, he knows how to think his way around a golf course, around a golf tournament.

“He’s committed to being a part of it, and he means it.";

Woods won't be playing in the fixture for the second successive time as he continues to recover from surgery.

But US Open champion Dustin Johnson reckons he can still bring plenty to the side.

He said: "The domination and knowledge he has and how to play the game - it's great.

"He's always been very good in team rooms. I've been on teams with him and enjoy it.

"He's already been texting me a bunch about it and he's fired up."

Meanwhile, Stars and Stripes wonderkid Spieth is more concerned with restoring his country's pride than pocketing a huge payday.

The defending FedEx Cup champ is in-line for another £7.5m cheque but that's not on his mind as the countdown to Hazeltine begins in earnest.

He said: "I’m setting some pretty lofty goals for myself the next six weeks, and it needs to cap off with us retaining that Ryder Cup. That’s very much on my mind.

"If we can build momentum and carry it over into that Ryder Cup, that’s our next Major in my opinion."
