WHO'S THE CADDIE

Louis Oosthuizen reveals he owes hole-in-one glory at the Open to his persuasive caddie

2010 champ defies odds of 10,000-1 with second ace in three months following his magic moment at the Augusta Masters

LOUIS OOSTHUIZEN owed his caddie all the drinks after he talked him into hitting a hole-in-one.

The 2010 Open champion aced the 14th after playing Augusta’s 16th in just one shot during the final round of this year’s Masters.

But Oosthuizen, who defied odds of 10,000-1 by making a second hole in one in the space of three months, revealed he had to be persuaded to use the right club.

He said: “I was thinking of hitting a little five iron and my caddie convinced me it’s just a normal six.

“He said it will easily cover the front and just make a good swing, don’t try anything hard and I did that.

“So I’ve got to give him a little credit for talking me into that six-iron.”

And Oosthuizen, who had no birdies in an opening level-par 71, said this ace - the fifth of his life - was better than the one he bagged at Augusta.

He added: “Both were pretty good shots but at Augusta you can hit it anywhere out the right and there are a few ways to do it.

“This was a proper golf hit, straight in it.

“I thought it was just going to be to the right of the flag, the next thing I saw it up against the flag and the crowd going crazy.”
