Tiger Woods pulls out of the Open Championship at Royal Troon through injury
American hasn't played since August after undergoing surgery on his back and is will not make the tournament in Scoland
TIGER WOODS has confirmed that he will not be appearing at the Open Championship.
The American, 40, underwent back surgery at the end of last year and has struggled to regain any sort of fitness - or form - since.
And it has now been confirmed that Tiger will not be playing at Troon, after weeks ago he told reporters: "I just miss playing. It's just not fun."
The R&A confirmed Woods' withdrawal in a short statement which said: "Tiger Woods has withdrawn from The Open and is replaced by Marcus Fraser of Australia."
A 14-time Major winner, Woods has gone on an eight-year barren run since his 2008 US Open triumph.
For more than two years he's suffered with problems with his back and surgery has failed to cure the long-standing issue.
