Liz Young to compete in Ricoh Women’s British Open even though she is seven months pregnant

Friends say she is playing better than ever and the 33-year-old has proved it by qualifying for golf's biggest tournament

LIZ YOUNG should be taking it easy seven months into her pregnancy - but instead the mum-to-be will be teeing off at the Women’s British Open.

The 33-year-old has already defied the odds to qualify when five months gone after finishing a credible 18th in the Tipsport Masters in the Czech Republic.

And she is adamant that she will begin her challenge at the Woburn Golf Club on July 28 - despite being seven months into her pregnancy.

Liz has played on since finding out the good news and says that her game has hardly been affected by her unborn baby girl.

: "The first three months of the tour in Australia, New Zealand and China I had some morning sickness and dizziness on the putting and my score showed that.

“That stopped and now the only thing is I get a bit tired and have a bit of a sore back.

“My expectations are not as high as they were beforehand but my friends say my pregnancy is doing my golf good as I have already had two top 10 finishes this year.”

Liz took up golf at the age of 12 but only turned professional eight years ago.

But the Brockenhurst-based player is confident that she'll be at her best despite the pregnancy.

She continued: "I think it has been good to keep active as long as you don’t do any harm to the baby. I am just taking it one shot at a time and if I am not feeling right I will withdraw.
