US Open 2016: Play suspended THREE times as rain continues to pound Oakmont course

Andrew Landry leads in Pennsylvania but the weather again causes havoc as first round is delayed again and again

PLAY was suspended THREE times at the US Open as storms continue to batter Oakmont Country Club.

A threat of lightning saw the players removed from the course for their own safety, with the USA’s Andrew Landry leading on -3.

Incremental weather has battered Pennsylvania over the past few days and looks set to continue for the rest of today.

But over the weekend the sun is due to come out and play shouldn’t be further affected.

The US Open trophy was paraded around the course to give the spectators something to look at during the break from play.

Landry currently has a three-shot lead over Bubba Watson and England’s Lee Westwood.
