Tiger Woods to make golf return after five months out due to coronavirus delay in PGA Tour’s Memorial Tournament
TIGER WOODS has announced his return to the PGA Tour at next week's Memorial after five months out.
The reigning Masters champion, 44, will mark his return to competitive action at Jack Nicklaus' tournament in Ohio, US.
Fans last saw Woods play in May's charity skins game where he and Peyton Manning teamed up to beat Phil Mickelson and Tom Brady.
Speculation was rife he would return three weeks ago at the RBC Heritage after his £15million superyacht moored up near the course.
But once he was a no-show there it was clear Woods was targeting The Memorial as his comeback event.
Woods, who has won at Nicklaus' Muirfield Village course a whopping five times and last triumphed in 2012, tweeted: "I’m looking forward to playing in the @MemorialGolf next week.
"I’ve missed going out and competing with the guys and can’t wait to get back out there."
Woods will break the all-time PGA Tour win record if he were to lift the trophy again.
He is currently level with Sam Snead on 82.
Woods, who has undergone four back surgeries, last played at the Genesis Invitational in February where he finished 68th after dismal weekend rounds of 76 and 77 for an 11 over par total.
He appeared in some discomfort on the course but played brilliantly in the made-for-TV charity match after that.

After The Memorial, Woods - who recently saw his 15-year-old long drive record smashed by Bryson DeChambeau - could potentially play again in the WGC-FedEx St Jude Invitational from July 30 to August 2.
But that looks like being it before a bumper end to the year which starts with the season's first Major - the PGA Championship - at Harding Park in San Francisco next month.
One thing he does not have to worry about is the Ryder Cup because it has been pushed back to 2021.
