Manchester United transfer news: Mateo Kovacic against Jose Mourinho link-up, Robert Lewandowski swap deal and Matteo Darmian alternative
The Red Devils have flown to Spain to try to sign Yerry Mina and Martial faces Mourinho and says his family will always come first
One week ahead of the transfer window's closure, Jose Mourinho is desperate to add to his squad.
The Manchester United boss said after his side lost 4-1 to Liverpool on their US tour that he expects only one more signing before the transfer deadline and he showed his frustration at the lack of deals.
However, a range of rumours continue to swirl around the Red Devils and there could be a few surprises over the next seven days.
So who are they targeting? Check out all the gossip, below...
POLE CHANCERS
Manchester United will go for Robert Lewandowski as a response to Bayern Munich's interest in Anthony Martial.
Jose Mourinho has always been interested in the Polish forward, and this might be the chance to bring him to Manchester.
The German giants are interested in Martial, although they are not willing to spend more than £50m.
KOV DROP
Matero Kovacic will reject a move to Old Trafford as he doesn't want to be trained by Mourinho
The Croatian midfielder retains his desire to leave Real Madrid due to a lack of minutes, but he doesn't seem to have a 'red' future.
Kovacic doesn't see United as a good fit for his style of play mainly because of Mourinho.
MATTEO ALTERNATIVE
Napoli's interest in Man United defender Matteo Darmian continues but Serge Aurier is being eyed as an alternative.
Italian defender Darmian wants to leave Old Trafford looking for more minutes, however his main suitor has other options.
Tottenham full-back Aurier faces heavy competition with Kieran Trippier and might fancy joining the Italians.
YERRY GO ROUND
Harry Maguire's excessive price has brought Colombian Yerry Mina to the Red Devils' attention.
The Barcelona defender might be an alternative with Leicester's Harry Maguire being an overly expensive option.
Manchester United's chief negotiator is heading to Spain to begin talks over the Colombian.
The Sun revealed on Sunday that Jose Mourinho urges Ed Woodward to spend £60m on Maguire, but the Foxes are not keen on selling another player after selling Riyad Mahrez to City.
UP THE ANT-E
Anthony Martial has broken his silence and told Mourinho that his family "will always come first".
The French forward was hit with a £180,000 fine after refusing to return to the club's pre-season tour of the US following the birth of his son Swan.
But Martial has hit back and took to social media to write: "Thank you for all your posts. My little Swan is fine, for the mum it was harder but thanks to God she is better now. Sorry but my family will always come first... Back tomorrow in Manchester".
