Arsenal set to be move for striker in January transfer window to replace exiled Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

ARSENAL are targeting a striker as a top priority in the January window after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s fall from grace at the Emirates.

And with Alexandre Lacazette out of contract next summer, boss Mikel Arteta is desperate for reinforcements up front.

Football London’s Chris Wheatley told the Gunners are eyeing the likes of Lautaro Martinez to ease their striker problem.

The Inter Milan forward has already smashed in 11 goals in 16 Serie A appearances so far this season.

Arsenal have also been linked with a big-money move for Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic - but they face a battle with other Premier League giants for his signature.

Aubameyang is reportedly a target of Juventus after falling out of favour in North London.

The 32-year-old has not featured since a five-minute cameo in the 2-1 defeat by Everton at the start of December.

His absence from the squad in Arsenal’s last three top-flight fixtures has given youngster Gabriel Martinelli a chance.

The Brazil wonderkid has partnered Lacazette up front since Auba’s exile, notching three goals and an assist in the process.

He scored twice in the 4-1 victory over Leeds on Saturday and revealed he was ‘so happy’ to get his chance - despite the ex-captain’s predicament.
