MARIO BALOTELLI has been offered an escape route from Liverpool by Serie A side Chievo.

The Italian outfit, nicknamed The Flying Donkeys, are reportedly keen to bring the Premier League flop back to his home nation to end his Liverpool hell, and the feeling is said to be mutual.

According to Italian publication , Balotelli has accepted an offer from Chievo but his £90,000-a-week wages could still be a stumbling block.

Chievo president Luca Campedelli said: "Dreaming doesn't cost anything. At the moment, it does remain a dream because we know that it would be very difficult to pull off such a move.

"We must take into account the obvious difficulties in economic terms, but it is something we are looking at.

"However, when you are coming up against the big clubs, then Chievo certainly can't compete at that level."

It is thought Liverpool would have to stump up some of his weekly pay should a deal with Chievo go through.

Balotelli has been banished to the reserves this summer after falling out of favour with Jurgen Klopp.

A move could mean yet more money to be made for Balotelli's agent Mino Raiola, who netted a £25million windfall last night when the Juventus star made his £109million move to Manchester United.

Raiola also negotiated deals for his clients Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic to move to Old Trafford this summer.

Balotelli has been linked with a host of clubs this summer, including Ajax, who were said to be put off by his wage demands.

Turkish side Besiktas have also been talked about as a possible destination for the star, as have newly-promoted Italian club Pescara as well as Serie A giants Napoli.

Balotelli flopped last season while on loan at AC Milan, managing just three goals in 23 appearances for the Rossoneri, including one solitary strike in Serie A in September 2015.

The star joined Liverpool from Milan two years ago for £16million but scored just one goal in 16 Premier League appearances before returning to the Italian club on loan.
