Manchester United transfer news: Jose Mourinho targets £60million Leonardo Bonucci to strengthen defence
Old Trafford boss worried about resilience of back four also eyes Southampton's Jose Fonte and Zenit's Ezequiel Garay
JOSE MOURINHO has set his sights on Leonardo Bonucci in a bid to ease his fears over Manchester United's defence.
The Old Trafford boss will not stop his summer spending with the expected world-record capture of Paul Pogba.
And, according to the Sunday Times, he has Juventus' central defender Bonucci firmly in his crosshairs.
Such a move for the £60million-rated Italy international, 29, would mean a lot of negotiating - something Mourinho may not be excited about given the drawn-out nature of Pogba's apparent capture.
Other options include Argentina star Ezequiel Garay, the 29-year-old who currently plays for Zenit St Petersburg.
