And now the Premier League champions and rivals Spurs are looking at bringing Sigurdsson, 30, to England's top flight.

Sigurdsson is currently plying his trade in Russia for Krasnodar but the Champions League clubs have contacted their representatives to confirm their interest.

The former Copenhagen star would cost around £4million and has attracted the attention of a host of other clubs around Europe.

Claudio Ranieri is keen to make reinforcements as his side prepare to defend their title for the first time.

The Foxes will also have the added fixtures of European football to handle and need to have a bigger squad to have a chance.

Spaniard Luis Hernández set to complete his free transfer from Sporting Gijón on 1 July and defensive midfielder Nampalys Mendy could be on his way to the King Power Stadium soon after.

Spurs are also back in the Champions League and looking to strengthen after their disappointing end to the season that saw them finish third.

Sigurdsson left his homeland at the age of 20 to move to IFK Gothenburg where he played 100 games in four years

He then joined Copenhagen in 2011 before Krasnodar forked out £3m for the defender.
