Mane, 24, has signed a five-year contract and will wear the number 19 shirt at Anfield.

He becomes the third most expensive signing in Liverpool history, after Andy Carroll and Christian Benteke.

It is also the first time manager Klopp has spent that amount on a player – only twice as Borussia Dortmund chief did he fork out over £20m, on Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Ciro Immobile.

Mane is the FIFTH Southampton star to join the Reds in the last two years, following Adam Lallana, Nathaniel Clyne, Dejan Lovren and Rickie Lambert.

The Senegal hitman had been on Manchester United’s radar in January – yet insisted he was only ever heading to Merseyside when he heard of Klopp’s interest.

Mane said: “I had some opportunities, but I think for me this is the right club, the right coach and the right moment to change.

“Klopp said he wanted me to come to play for Liverpool, and I didn’t even have to ask myself. I said straight away ‘yes, I am interested’ because I know Liverpool.

“I am convinced they are the right club for me with the right coach.”

The striker, who can play anywhere across the front line, holds the Premier League record for the fastest hat-trick.

In May 2015 Mane took just 2 minutes 56 seconds to hit a treble in a 6–1 win over Aston Villa.
