Liverpool transfer news: Sadio Mane set for medical with Reds after club agrees £30million fee for the striker with Premier League rivals Southampton

Saints gave the Senegal international permission to move after they completed the signing of Norwichs Nathan Redmond

SADIO MANE will have a medical at Liverpool today after the Anfield club agreed a £30million deal for the Southampton ace.

Senegal forward Mane, 24, was given permission to head to Merseyside after Saints completed the signing of Norwich winger Nathan Redmond on Saturday.

And Mane he is expected to become Kop boss Jurgen Klopp’s fourth signing of the summer once personal terms have been agreed.

Klopp is keen to complete his summer business early.

After agreeing deals for midfielder Marko Grujic, centre-back Joel Matip and goalkeeper Loris Karius, Klopp expects Mane to join before players, not at the Euros, report back on July 2.

Klopp’s set his sights on Mane — who will become the Reds’ third-most expensive signing — when Germany and Bayern Munich star Mario Gotze went cold on a switch to the Premier League.

Once the deal is completed, Southampton will have received £91.5million in transfer fees from Liverpool over the last three summers.

Mane follows Adam Lallana (£25m), Dejan Lovren (£20m), Nathaniel Clyne (£12.5m) and Rickie Lambert (£4m) from the south coast.

Mane, who Southampton signed for £11.8million two years ago, made a lasting impression on Klopp when he scored twice in a dramatic 3-2 win over Liverpool at St Mary’s in March.

Liverpool are also still keen on Udinese midfielder Piotr Zelinski, Leicester left-back Ben Chilwell, and Borussia Monchengladbach’s midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud.
