Russia has been a joy to behold so far, but which stars have made a name for themselves from nowhere?
The World Cup has been rather good so far, hasn't it?
The long wait for a 0-0 draw finally came to an end on Tuesday as France and Denmark played out a real snoozefest.
But aside from that it's been wall to wall entertainment, with Dream Team World Cup equally hotting up.
Some of the usual suspects - Harry Kane, Cristiano Ronaldo, Romelu Lukaku and Luis Suarez - currently lead the scoring rankings.
But other heroes have emerged from the abyss to rack up really impressive points tallies so far.
Here are our top five biggest surprises on the game...
1 Kasper Schmeichel (24 points)
Denmark's progress to the last 16 has been based on a mean defence.
So they're fortunate to have a rich goalkeeping heritage that has been passed down generations.
Kasper Schmeichel has certainly channelled traits from his famous dad in Russia, keeping two clean sheets in three group games.
The Leicester man is the highest scoring goalkeeper by quite some distance, with Fernando Muslera a distant second on 18 points.
2 Artem Dzyuba (23 points)
The man they call 'The Tree' in Russia has, like his international team-mates, dumbfounded some of his critics so far.
Two goals in the group fixtures, including a beautiful take and finish against Egypt, has seen Dzyuba emerge as a surprise hero.
Fyodor Smolov was meant to be Russia's starting striker but he's been outshone by the Zenit man.
Dzyuba is currently outscoring Diego Costa (21), Lionel Messi (15) and Neymar (15).
3 John Stones (18 points)
What do Stones and Alessandro Del Piero have in common? They've both scored two World Cup goals in their career.
Stick that in your pipe and smoke it.
Stones has really developed into his role in England's back three and showed Raheem Sterling how it's done with some clinical finishing against Panama at the weekend.
Only Uruguayan stalwarts Diego Godin and Jose Gimenez have outscored him defensively so far.
4 Dejan Lovren (16 points)
So often a figure of ridicule at Liverpool, Lovren is a model of consistency for Croatia with some stellar performances.
He shone against Lionel Messi and co. as the Croats easily swept aside Argentina and they conceded just one goal in the entire group stage period.
Lovren is a leader for his country and they have emerged as genuine dark horses, particularly with Denmark lying in wait in the last 16.
5 Aleksandar Mitrovic (15 points)
A non-entity for Newcastle but a man transformed for Fulham, propelling them to the Premier League with some ludicrous finishing.
Mitrovic is a centre-back's worst nightmare both physically and mentally, constantly berating defenders in the Diego Costa mould.
His superb header against Switzerland was unfortunate not to steer Serbia to three points.
Mitrovic is currently level on points with Neymar (15) ahead of the two meeting in their crunch clash tonight.
