Fantasy football Premier League: 5 players who are completely useless on Dream Team (but are being picked anyway)
Fantasy football is NOT for the dim-witted.
You need all the intelligence of Pep Guardiola, the cunning of Jurgen Klopp, and the gravelly voice of Sean Dyche to succeed.
Just kidding, of course.
It's all fairly straight-forward as long as you don't do something utterly stupid like... picking someone for your team who no longer plays in the Premier League, for example?
Believe me it happens more often than you think; in fact, do you have any of these five players in your team right now?
1 Christian Eriksen
Eriksen is only a fairly recent Premier League turncoat.
Over the last few years, the Danish midfielder has been one of the most popular players on our game, and one of the most consistent.
He was front and centre of our Dream Team Best XI of the season at the end of the 2016/17 campaign when he scored over 250 points.
Of course, he's now plying his trade with Antonio Conte's Premier League tribute act at Inter Milan; moving there for around £16m back in January.
But there's still nearly 5% of you who have Eriksen in your team; you know he's not coming back, right guys?
2 Ashley Young
It's the same story with Young.
The former Man United captain decided to catwalk his way over to the fashion capital of the world back in January with a surprise move to Inter.
Since then he's notched a goal — in a 2-1 defeat to Lazio back in February — and grown his hair, and we think it's time a few of you accepted that he's gone, got over it, and transferred him OUT of your team right now.
3 Nacho Monreal
Honestly, this one's just embarrassing.
Unlike Eriksen and Young, Monreal vacated the Premier League quite a while ago.
Annoyingly, he opted to leave Arsenal for the bright lights of [checks notes] Real Sociedad at the end of August, when we'd already decided on our player list for the 2019/20 season — so Monreal is still knocking about, and he actually still has a handful of points from the Gunners' first couple of weeks of the campaign.
4 Henrikh Mkhitaryan
Mkhitaryan's another former Gunner who's making his living abroad.
Yep, believe it or not, there's actually people out there with Mkhitaryan in their teams; he wasn't even that good!
Now at AS Roma, the Armenian midfielder current boasts -1 point for his Premier League efforts in 2019/20; a fitting legacy indeed.
5 Alexis Sanchez
Ah yes, the Granddaddy of useless players...
Sanchez didn't play a single second of Man United's early weeks of the 2019/20 campaign as his inevitable move to the Serie A was being hashed out.
His spell in Italy hasn't exactly been worth it either, as he's spent the majority of it in the physio room.
Classic Alexis, right?
