Bluebirds boss and winger scoop double awards after stunning start to the season sees Cardiff top the Championship
CARDIFF duo Neil Warnock and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing scooped the manager's and player's monthly awards after a 100 per cent start to the Championship season.
The Bluebirds are flying high at the top of the table after wins over Burton, Aston Villa, Sheffield United, Wolves and QPR in August.
And Mendez-Laing has been the surprise package of City's surge to the top, as he netted four goals in five games, including a brace against Villa, since joining from Rochdale.
Warnock's side have been unexpected front-runners in the Championship so far this term and have had a start even fans of the Welsh side could not have expected.
The 68-year-old said: “This is an achievement for all of us at the club, from the top to the bottom.
"We’ve made some good signings and integrated them quickly into the group, which isn’t always easy.
"I’m delighted with the award - for the whole club and our fantastic fans."
Mendez-Laing, 25 added: "It’s been a great first month of Championship football for me and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it.
