MANCHESTER UNITED couldn't even be saved by the 'Class of '92' according to one of the pillars of that team, Gary Neville.
United were easily brushed aside by West Ham 2-0 on Sunday in a performance that drew heavy criticism from a whole host of former players and pundits.
It also saw their only fit striker, Marcus Rashford limp off with a groin injury - meaning rookie Mason Greenwood, returning from tonsillitis, is the only forward left.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer offloaded forwards Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez to Inter Milan this summer, but failed to bring in a replacement.
The Norwegian is coming under heavy pressure after his side's poor start to the season, and Neville thinks his former team-mate is in a world of trouble.
LACKING REAL EXPERIENCE
Speaking on The Gary Neville Podcast, the former United defender said: "This squad is depleted. It's young, inexperienced and not ready.
"I've said many times that Alan Hansen was right, you don't win anything with kids.
"The Class of '92 didn't win that Premier League title. We had Steve Bruce, Gary Pallister, Roy Keane, Eric Cantona, Brian McClair and Peter Schmeichel.
"We had world-class performers and two of the best centre-backs ever.
"Keane was the most inspirational captain and leader, Cantona was world-class, Schmeichel was the best in the world and Denis Irwin was brilliant.
"They pulled us through it. If the Class of '92 had gone into this team, we would have had no chance."
Neville bemoaned the squad depth immediately after the game while commenting on Sky Sports.
He believes his former team-mate is in need of another three or four players to “hold” the young players together.

He added: “Ole wouldn't want to be calling on them [young players] in these moments.
“He'll know. He was at the club long enough to know what he needs.
“He needs three of four players down that spine to hold those young lads together."
