Pending the official medical verdict on how serious Rashford's injury is, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will receive a boost in the form of Paul Pogba and Mason Greenwood for Wednesday night.

French midfielder Pogba is on the way back from an ankle knock and the manager has promised "some minutes" versus Rochdale.

In addition, he should "definitely" be in contention to face Arsenal on Monday.

Likewise, Greenwood is in the mix once again after dropping out of the squad that faced West Ham due to tonsillitis.

United have confirmed the continued absence of Anthony Martial, Luke Shaw and Eric Bailly.

And there are reports of growing concerns over the nature of the injuries being accrued this season.

has revealed worries inside the sports science department over how many stars are picking up non-contact injuries.

Training sessions are also under the spotlight with staff said to be mollycoddling first-teamers and producing workouts more akin to academy squads.

Former Under-18s coach Kieran McKenna has caused particular discontent due to a perceived lack of experience at United's level.

It has contributed to the sense that the Red Devils are a meagre force as a club these days, while the drop in standards shocked ex-defender Patrice Evra when the Frenchman recently returned to Carrington as part of his coaching badges.
