OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER wasted no time in fighting for his future by arriving at Manchester United's training complex at the crack of dawn this morning.
The Norwegian boss is under growing calls by supporters to be sacked following another abject away performance at West Ham on Sunday.
SunSport columnist Alan Shearer labelled the Red Devils "unbelievably bad" as goals from Aaron Cresswell and Andriy Yarmolenko ensured United are still seeking their first away win of the season.
Former midfielder Roy Keane claimed it was "scary" how far the club have fallen while ex-boss Jose Mourinho says there are no positives that the club can take away from the performance.
Defeat leaves United with just eight points from six matches and 10 points adrift of table-toppers Liverpool.
Fans have seen enough having called for chief executive Ed Woodward to swing the axe but Solskjaer appeared defiant as he arrived at Carrington along with first-team coach Michael Carrick.
There were no players in sight as the boss arrived early in an attempt to fix the mess they are in.
Supporters chanted "Ole out" outside the ground at the full-time whistle which sparked a reaction from former defender Rio Ferdinand.
Winding down his window to confront the culprits, he said: "Where's that coming from?
"Ole out for what?
"Are we just going to keep changing managers every week, is that what everyone wants: You get a bad result, you change [the manager].
"Two weeks ago I didn't see people saying we want Ole out.
"And now it's changed after two weeks, come on man.
"It's too kneejerk - sometimes you've just got to let a thing play out."
Other supporters have directed their anger at Woodward who believe he should be held responsible for their decline.
One supporter said on Twitter: "Ole isn't the problem, Ed Woodward is the problem."
Another added: "I feel sorry for OGS the position that Ed Woodward has put the team in is unforgivable."
INJURY CRISIS
It is now three league wins in 13 matches for United and to make matters worse for Solskjaer, he is contending with an injury crisis in attack.
Marcus Rashford limped off after an hour after appearing to struggle with a thigh injury and joins Anthony Martial on the treatment table.
It leaves Solskjaer with 17-year-old Mason Greenwood as the only recognised No9 in the side but even he missed the defeat through illness.
latest Manchester United news
Solskjaer said: "No update on Marcus, we need to scan him tomorrow. He felt it in his groin. He will probably be out for a little while but I will update you later.
"Historically, we have had loads of centre-backs struggling with injuries. At the moment it's strikers, that's just how it's gone.
"Hopefully Mason and Anthony will be back definitely for Arsenal, and hopefully one of them for Rochdale.
"We made a decision on Sanchez [being loaned to Inter] and I still think it was the best one for us and Alexis."
