PATRICE EVRA has told Manchester United's board "it's time to get our hands dirty" and offered to help the club amid their current crisis.

United were well beaten by West Ham at London Stadium on Sunday and the legendary left-back took to Instagram to make his appeal after the game.

Evra, 38, played for both West Ham and the Red Devils during his illustrious career but Old Trafford is clearly where his heart lies.

On Sunday evening, the Frenchman posted a picture of himself as United captain kissing the badge alongside a caption imploring the board to take action.

He wrote: "I think it’s time to get our hands dirty! @ManchesterUnited board, are you ready to let us help you guys...? #ManchesterUnited."

Goals from Andriy Yarmolenko and Aaron Cresswell saw United fail to win for the fourth time in six Premier League games.

Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial and last season's player-of-the-season Luke Shaw were all missing in East London but the performance still drew criticism.

United legend Roy Keane slammed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side saying it's scary how far they have fallen.

Former captain Keane played at Old Trafford in different times, winning seven Premier League titles and the Champions League, and finds it hard to accept that those days are long gone.

He told Sky Sports after the final whistle: "I don’t know where to start.

"I’m shocked and saddened how bad they were today.

"You can lose a game of football but everything about the game, about United - lacklustre, no quality, a lack of desire, leaders, character. And it’s a long way back for them.

"It’s scary how far they have fallen."

Jose Mourinho added that they were no positives for the team with "no improvement" since last season.
