MANCHESTER UNITED'S timid first half display at West Ham was so bad it made one fan fall asleep.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side looked pedestrian in the opening 45 minutes as they struggled to create any chances.

And by the time the Hammers took the lead through Andriy Yarmolenko late in the half, the performance had already done for one supporter.

The girl in the United end was spotted asleep on the shoulder of her boyfriend - a clear sign just how bad the game had been as far as she was concerned.

Missing Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial through injury, and with youngster Mason Greenwood also out through illness, Solskjaer's team lacked bite going forward and ended up losing 2-0.

The Hammers had not been much better in the first half as both sides failed to get their attacking play going.

But West Ham finally made the breakthrough two minutes before half-time as Yarmolenko finished off a smart move by burying a shot into the bottom corner.

Things took a turn for the worse for United in the second half when lone striker Marcus Rashford pulled up with an injury.

It looked as though the England star had suffered a groin problem, which causes further worries for Solskjaer as it leaves him without a fit recognised senior striker.

The decision to sell Romelu Lukaku and let Alexis Sanchez join him at Inter Milan on loan without signing anyone else has come back to bite United hard.
