Stats show Emery’s first 43 games lag behind Wenger’s last 43 matches as Arsenal fans grow concerned
UNAI EMERY is growing under increasing pressure at Arsenal with stats revealing he is performing worse than Arsene Wenger as manager in every key area.
The stuttering start to the season has seen the Gunners take just two points from their last three matches, frustrating fans.
And the apparent failure to resolve the defensive issues which have plagued Arsenal for years have led to questions being asked of Emery's ability to do the job.
Club legend Charlie Nicholas laid the blame at the manager's door - and now Sky Sports have produced figures which suggest things are getting worse under the Spaniard at the Emirates.
They compared the final 43 matches of Wenger's reign in charge of Arsenal to the first 43 matches since Emery took over.
In that time, Wenger's side scored 2.02 goals per game compared to 1.88 for the current regime.
Present-day Arsenal have almost two fewer shots on target in 90 minutes than under their old boss.
That is despite the Gunners currently boasting an awesome looking attacking unit made up of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Nicolas Pepe.
But it is the defence which is the major issue - something Emery insisted he would be able to improve when he took over.
