Solskjaer promises Man Utd fans they ‘will see more’ of Fred after awful start to season for Brazilian flop
MANCHESTER UNITED boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that Fred will feature more as the season progresses.
The Brazilian midfielder featured in his first match of the campaign on Saturday after he came off the bench in the second half against Leicester at Old Trafford.
Prior to the clash against the Foxes, the 26-year-old had been left out of the opening four matchday squads in the Premier League.
But he is expected to be involved for the Red Devils in their Europa League group stage clash against Astana on Thursday night at the Theatre of Dreams.
When asked whether Fred could start in the pre-match press conference, Solskjaer said: "You're picking my team here now, I might as well give it!
"Obviously, Fred came on and did well in the 20 minutes [against Leicester].
"We needed his legs and sharpness, and he's been patient, he's been working hard, he's not a young boy but he's still young in his English career and hopefully he will kick-start his season tomorrow.
"I'm sure we'll see more and more of Fred. We spoke about it earlier, he's had some great games in midfield with Scott against PSG and Arsenal, for example, and we're just waiting for that to flourish."
Fred has flattered to deceive for United since joining from Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk last year for a whopping £52million fee.
He appeared in just 17 top-flight games last term - netting just once - as he failed to win over both Jose Mourinho and Solskjaer.
Serie A side Fiorentina had been linked with am £18m move for Fred in the summer, but a move ultimately failed to materialise.
While Galatasaray were also keen on bringing him to Turkey on a season-long loan deal.
