The sea of black and yellow was suddenly transformed into the letters "BVB" as Dortmund's die-hard fans launched confetti in a bid to inspire their heroes.

However, it wasn't to be for the German giants on Tuesday night as they staggered to a draw against the La Liga champions.

While a point won't be considered too bad, they missed a glorious chance to seal three points in their Group F curtain-raiser.

Marco Reus fluffed his lines from the spot as Marc-Andre ter Stegen saved the day for Barcelona - who started 16-year-old Ansu Fati in Germany.

Why BVB?

BVB means Ballspiel-Verein Borussia - which translates as 'Borussia club for ball games'.

The club name is actually 'BV Borussia 09 e.V. Dortmund', with '09' refering to 1909, the year of the club's foundation.

The club's ground is Signal Iduna Park, which has a capacity of 81,365 to make it Germany's largest stadium.

The South Bank terrace is huge, and holds 24,454 fans - the largest terrace for standing fans in European football.

The fans are among the most intense in Europe and the stand has been nicknamed 'Die Gelbe Wand' - the Yellow Wall.

In the same group, Romelu Lukaku’s Inter Milan scored a last-gasp equaliser to earn a 1-1 draw at home to Slavia Prague.

Meanwhile, Dortmund may be braced for an approach from Manchester United for star winger Jadon Sancho.

The England forward, 19, is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's top target next summer - along with Leicester playmaker James Maddison.
