DAVID BECKHAM watched Spurs destroy Crystal Palace then told Mauricio Pochettino: “I wish I was playing for you.”
The former England superstar was an excited fan in the directors’ box as two-goal Son Heung-min led the charge in an impressive 4-0 win.
And boss Poch revealed: “I was talking with Beckham after the game and he said he wished he still played and that he played for Tottenham because this stadium is amazing. We haven’t played many games here and it’s important to make this our house.
“With time we will be at home here and then it will become very difficult for opponents to win here.”
Spurs had taken just 16 points from 16 Premier League games before this rout. Poch said: “The team was unsettled and when that happens it’s difficult to perform as you want to.
“I’m so happy to recover that feeling but now we need to keep pushing. We have unbelievable players but we need to show that intensity in every game and then for sure we will fight for big things.”
Defender Toby Alderweireld said: “We all got together after the international break this week and had a bit of a talk with each other.
“We said that we had to get the feeling back from last season.”

Son added: “We should always play like this because it reminds us how strong we are. I hope we can learn from this.”
Poch now plans big changes for Wednesday’s Champions League opener at Olympiakos.
He said: “We have seven games in 21 days.”
