VIRGIL VAN DIJK'S majestic form has been frightening... too much so for a little fan.
A girl in a Holland "Virgil" shirt was too shy to turn around and look at the Liverpool hero for a whole minute, even when he autographed her top.
Van Dijk got a special reception, when he was named Uefa's men's player of the year a fortnight ago but this time he received a fan-fear welcome.
The £75million centre-back has just helped Holland to fine Euro 2020 qualifying wins away from home, 4-2 against Germany and 4-0 over Estonia.
And the ex-Southampton ace has been just as imperious in the Premier League this term, Liverpool the only team with four victories out of four.
But despite Van Dijk being a gentle giant when he met fans off the pitch, meeting the 6ft 4ins rock was still too much for the bashful female fan.
She instead buried her head into a man accompanying her, clinging onto him tightly.
So she missed the 30-cap defender's broad smile as he chatted to the young boy with her.
And not even Van Dijk could coax the girl to face him.
The former Celtic hero settled for signed the back of the girl's shirt, which was pretty much all he ever saw of her.
Van Dijk finally patted the boy on the shoulder and said: "Nice to meet you guys".
He then held his arms open and asked: "Do you want a cuddle?"
The boy gladly took up the offer but the girl still declined to budge, leaving Van Dijk to chuckle and say farewell.
In years to come the girl might be able to dine out the cute clip of her NOT greeting Van Dijk.
But perhaps by then, if she gets another chance to meet, she might have enough Dutch courage to say hello.
