Kevin De Bruyne wants transfer to Vincent Kompany’s Anderlecht when he quits Man City

KEVIN DE BRUYNE has promised Vincent Kompany he will go to play for him at Anderlecht - when he finishes at Manchester City.

The champions are set to say an emotional farewell to their legendary skipper at his testimonial at the Etihad on Wednesday night.

KdB revealed Kompany played a key part in luring him to City - and already misses him since he left to take up a player manager role back in their homeland.

De Bruyne said: “I hope his career will be just as amazing at Anderlecht as it was at City. I’ve told him to keep a place in his team for me in a year, or seven, when I’m finished here.

“If he does do that for me I will already have my next destination lined up; my next job.

“I will definitely miss him being around City.”

De Bruyne told how Kompany became influential in him moving to City in a £54 million move from Wolfsburg four years ago.

'CONSTANTLY ENCOURAGING ME'

He recalled: “At the time City were trying to sign me from Wolfsburg and Vinny was pushing for me to move to Manchester to play alongside him.

“He would constantly ask me when I was coming. He would say ‘you need to come’, constantly encouraging me to join City.”

Kompany signed off from his 11 year stay in incredible fashion - scoring an unforgettable goal against Leicester and helping City clinch an unprecedented treble.

Yet de Bruyne says his influence was much greater than what the fans saw.

In Kompany’s new book ‘Treble Triumph’ written by Ian Cheeseman and published in November, he added: “He kept everyone on their toes.

“It’s a team game, it’s not about individuals and he was always playing his part even when he wasn’t in the team, but of course during the last couple of months he was playing all the games.

“It’s a big commitment to give nearly eleven years of your life to a team. The biggest part of his life has been here at City, and to leave that is always a difficult moment.
