Arsenal legend Ian Wright calls on fans to ‘protect’ Guendouzi ‘at all costs’ after ‘magnificent’ North London derby showing
ARSENAL legend Ian Wright called on Arsenal fans to "protect" Matteo Guendouzi "at all costs" after his showing in the North London derby.
Wrighty said midfielder Guendouzi, 20, was "magnificent" in the 2-2 draw with Spurs.
The SunSport columnist tweeted: "That performance at 20 in the North London derby. Magnificent @MatteoGuendouzi.
"Arsenal fans protect him at all costs."
Wrighty was not alone in his praise for the young Frenchman.
One Gunners fan wrote: "I thought Guendouzi was immense today. He showed great character to grab the game by the scruff of the neck whilst two behind and his pass for the equaliser was simply phenomenal.
"It's hard to believe that he's 20 years old.
"Incredible talent. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise."
Guendouzi's stunning 71st-minute pass allowed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to grab the equaliser after goals from Christian Eriksen and Harry Kane made it 2-0 before Alexandre Lacazette pulled one back.
Sky Sports pundits were purring about Guendouzi's contribution, though.
Graeme Souness - who earlier slammed Everton's Moise Kean - said of Guendouzi's amazing assist: "He sees the run and it's a weighted pass with the perfect weight and direction.
"He sees the run - blindside of the central defender - and the finish is sublime."
Jamie Redknapp added: "It's one of the most difficult passes. He has Pepe as one option but he plays it in flat.

"He gets his head up and his flat pass is the most difficult technique. It's perfect. It's such a good flight of pass.
"I didn't know he had that in his locker. It's an incredible pass. He's getting a bit of dip on it and it's so hard to defend against."
Jose Mourinho said of Guendouzi: "He played a good game today and he is a kid with talent. You need that kind of movement. Aubameyang made a fantastic run for him."
