ROJO NO GO

Solskjaer confirms Rojo is STAYING at Man Utd but Darmian could join Smalling by leaving as defender flies to Roma for loan transfer

OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER has confirmed Marco Rojo is STAYING at Manchester United - but Matteo Darmian could join Chris Smalling in leaving.

The Old Trafford boss has revealed he wants to keep the versatile Argentine defender but doesn't see a future for Darmian.

The Italian is now fourth in the right-back pecking order behind £50million new-boy Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Ashley Young and Diogo Dalot, with Solskjaer revealing there is interest from Serie A.

Solskjaer revealed: "Darmian and Rojo leaving? I can see maybe Matteo. There has been some interest in Matteo over in Italy.

"Marcos, he's staying definitely. We've got a squad now that's less in numbers, but still big enough and strong enough to have coverage in all positions."

Dalot could become the second United player in the last two days to agree to a move to Italy - and fourth of the summer.

SMALLING GOING

Smalling is close to sealing his season-long loan move to Roma after flying to the Italian capital to agree terms on Thursday.

Much like Darmian, Smalling, 29, has slipped down the pecking order, and is now behind the likes of £85m new arrival Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly.

The 31-cap international will now join Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku in leaving for Serie A this summer.

The forward pair both joined Inter Milan, with Lukaku sealing a £73million transfer, while Sanchez completed a season-long loan deal.

But not all fans are happy Rojo will be staying after his indifferent five years at Old Trafford.

One Twitter user even wrote, "Rojo can't even make toast", in reference to his infamous burnt toast tweet.

But some were just happy to see some of the "deadwood" leaving, after Peter Schmeichel urged Solskjaer to sell some fringe players.
