How Man Utd could line up with Zlatan Ibrahimovic leading forward line after January transfer window

MANCHESTER UNITED may have found Romelu Lukaku's replacement - and it's a familiar name.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic teased that he could return to the club, and judging by the tame display in the 2-1 home loss to Crystal Palace, they could do with him.

The Swedish striker spent two seasons at Old Trafford between 2016 and 2018, and quickly became a crowd favourite.

It was hardly surprising - Ibra finished his time at the club with impressive stats of 29 goals in 53 games.

This was despite the 37-year-old undergoing knee surgery during his time there.

He is now tearing up the MLS and netted two goals in a 3-3 derby draw against leaders LAFC.

It took him to 22 strikes in as many games this term as he seeks to add the MLS title to a huge trophy haul that includes three at United.

If United needs me, I’m here!

Ibrahimovic said: “I could still play easily in the Premier League.

“If United needs me, I’m here!

“But Galaxy has me so I’m sorry.

“I did my job in Europe. I enjoyed it, I have 33 trophies that I brought with me here and hopefully I can get something here.

“And then we will see where that adventure finishes.”

If he ends up making a glorious return, it could spell the end of Anthony Martial's run as centre-forward.

The Frenchman has started the season there, with Marcus Rashford playing off him out wide.

And United will more than likely have to fight off bids for their other French star - Paul Pogba.

The likes of Juventus, PSG and Real Madrid are bound to be sniffing around once the window opens in January.
