Arsenal veteran Nacho Monreal close to transfer to Real Sociedad to end seven years at The Emirates
NACHO MONREAL is edging closer to an Arsenal exit with a move to Real Sociedad on the cards, according to reports.
The veteran Spanish left-back has been at the Emirates since 2013 and worked his way into Arsene Wenger's starting XI during his first campaign.
And having signed from Malaga, the 33-year-old looks set for a return to Spain with Sociedad interested.
The Gunners recently signed wing-back Kieran Tierney from Celtic in £25million move.
LIMITED OPPORTUNITIES
And Sead Kolasinac is also back in contention after the harrowing incident that saw him and Mesut Ozil held up at knife point.
So - despite having started Arsenal's first two fixtures this season - it seems Monreal's first team opportunities may be limited at the Emirates from now on.
And in Spain suggest the expendable left-back could even sign for Sociedad within the next few hours.
LATEST ARSENAL NEWS
Monreal insisted he wanted to stay at Arsenal earlier in the summer but it seems his mind has changed.
He also urged Laurent Koscielny to end his strike and return to Arsenal's first team before the centre-half forced a move back to France.
SunSport exclusively revealed Monreal signed a year-long contract extension in July assuming he was part of Unai Emery's plans.
