Arsenal boss Unai Emery tells outcasts Mustafi and Elneny to leave before European transfer deadline closes
ARSENAL boss Unai Emery has told Shkodran Mustafi and Mohamed Elneny to leave the club before the European transfer deadline shuts.
Emery warned both players that they will rarely feature for the Gunners this season if they decide to stay put.
Mustafi, 27, has been hugely criticised by supporters for his performances last season following a string of costly mistakes and us yet to feature this term.
The addition of David Luiz and emergence of Calum Chambers has seen him fall further down the pecking order despite making 31 league appearances last season.
Midfielder Elneny, 27, made just five Premier League starts last campaign and failed to make the bench for the opening two games.
The European deadline shuts on September 2 and Emery has advised them to seek a new challenge elsewhere.
“I think it is positive for them to leave and sign for another team where they can be protagonists and be happy and continue their careers.”
Mustafi has been linked with a loan move to Serie A side Roma with the view to a £23million permanent deal.
Bordeaux had shown an interest in Elneny but that has appeared to have cooled.
